Two people were confirmed dead and another six seriously injured after a truck that lost control rammed two other trucks that had been parked at Salgaa Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking at the scene, Rongai OCPD Joseph Mwamburi attributed the incident to free-wheeling which he said is the major cause of loss of control.
"We keep telling drivers to avoid free-wheeling but they have always remained adamant," Mwamburi complained.
Citizens who arrived at the scene helped police pull out the victims from the mangled trucks while also accusing the county government of dragging its feet on the much-anticipated expansion of the stretch at Salgaa.
"These parking should be enlarged so that vehicles don't lie along the main road creating congestion. The roads should be left clear," said one of the on-lookers.
The injured were rushed to Nakuru and Molo District Hospitals for treatment while the two bodies were taken to Nakuru County Referral Hospital.
