Two people died on Thursday while two others sustained serious injuries in an accident involving a Tuktuk along the Thika-Garissa Highway.
According to eye witnesses, the tuktuk was heading to Makongeni Estate from Thika Town at around 5pm on Thursday when the driver lost control.
They say the tuktuk operator tried to avoid hitting two pedestrians but collided with a speeding saloon car killing the passenger in the tuktuk on the spot. Another passenger inside the saloon car also succumbed to injuries before he could be taken to hospital.
The driver of the Tuktuk who was seriously injured lost consciousness at the scene of the accident and was rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital together with the driver of the saloon car.
He was later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital in a critical condition.
The body of the deceased was later taken to General Kago Funeral Home and the vehicles towed to Makongeni Police Station.
Thika deputy traffic police commander John Lisoi has called on road users to be extra vigilant when using the roads while confirming the incident at the scene.
