The Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT Kisii Branch Chairman Albert Ondimu has said teachers will not agree to any negotiation attempts by the government over salaries.

Ondimu said that teachers are tired of the negotiation process that has taken years saying that the government should respect their patience and accept to give them 50-60 percent increase of their salary.

Speaking to hivisasa in Kisii town on Monday the union official stressed that they are not ready for any further negotiations with the government over their salary increase.

"What we are interested in is to see our salary increased according to the court ruling, not negotiations," he said.

The case is currently at the Supreme Court after the Ministry of Education went to court to challenge the decision by the industrial court to award the teacher a 50-60% pay increase.

“Let the government respect us and give us our money. Where we have reached now, we know we are going to succeed and already we have passed many channels of courts and won,” he said.
