Gatundu North residents can have their homes installed with electricity with only Sh1,160, area MP Kigo Njenga has said.
Speaking in Mang'u on Tuesday Kigo said that the initiative is a national government program meant to empower the people and bring power to the rural areas.
"With only Sh.1,160 you will have power at your home. The rest you will pay through instalments. Yours is only to do wiring," Kigo said.
The legislator stressed that the project was fully sponsored by the national government and asked the county government not to interfere. Kigo went on to accuse the opposition of derailing development by continually opposing government programs with claims of corruption. He said the opposition should join in the war against the vice rather than engage in blame game.
"They should leave the government alone to deliver on its promises. A project like this is meant to help all Kenyans and it is not right to politicise it," he added.
The MP also called on the residents to work together to see an end to illicit brews in the area saying that the local administration has failed. He however appealed for modesty and warned residents against destroying property.
