Graduates have been urged to embrace technical training as a means of curbing unemployment among the youth.
Speaking during their 8th graduation, the director of Alphax College Kevin Okwara said that technical courses enhance skills and knowledge thus enabling one to be innovative and creative. This can also create self employment opportunities.
"In this era where white collar jobs are scarce, i would like to challenge the youth to not only focus on courses that will land them in offices but to also focus on technical courses which will create room for self employment," he said
He additionally urged the graduates to be avoid job seekers but instead be job creators which will help in reducing the number of jobless youth in the country.
"Sometimes i watch the news and sypathize with the graduates who ask the government to give them employment. They do this yet they have the ability to start their own businesses like agriculture for example," he noted.
