Out of 4,687 students who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2015 in Machakos county, 42 of them have been reported to have involved themselves in cheating.
This was reported by county director of education Francis Munywoki who spoke in his office on March 4, 2016.
He said that he did not expect Machakos county schools' students to engage themselves in exam irregularities.
"2015 KCSE results have recorded the highest number of cheating cases for the last few years I have been county director of education. I do not expect such examination irregularities in Machakos county and I urge teachers to prepare students well before they sit for their final exam to avoid such cases," said Munywoki.
He said that the most affected schools are Kalama and Keaa secondary schools which recorded over 10 students each with mean grade Y.
Munywoki therefore urged teachers, parents and students to embrace teamwork which is the only way to getting excellent results.
