Six hundred and fifty rolls of bhang were seized on Tuesday in Kisii town bus terminus, Kisii County AP commander Mohammed Khutsola confirmed.

Addressing the press in his office shortly after impounding the bhang, Khutsola said the suspect was transporting the drugs to Mombasa before he was apprehended.

The AP boss said they received a tip-off from members of the public that led them to arresting of the suspect.

“The bhang was packed in two boxes and a polythene bag. The suspect was waiting for a bus to board but after receiving a tip-off from members of the public we acted swiftly and arrested the suspect,” he told the press.

Khutsola hailed the public for good partnership with the police department in ensuring sanity prevails through reporting of suspects.

“We have always been accused of having cold working relationship with the public. I want to confirm here that were it so, we could not have nailed the suspects. We cannot succeed in the war against illegalized business unless we fight it together with all stakeholders. I therefore urge the public to continue with that spirit so that we can end crime in the county.”

The AP boss was flanked by Kisii Central acting OCPD David Mburukwe and OCS, Joseph Ndolo.

OCPD Mburukwe said: “We have been hearing rumours about the man involved in drug trafficking from Kisii and we laid a drag-net that has finally bore fruits. He will be arraigned in court and be charged over possession of illegal drugs. We will not relent in the war against these businesses, we will battle them to the latter.”
