Kiambu county commissioner Mr Alex Nkoyo on Thursday raised alarm over the increased cases of suicide in the region over the past few months.
Nkoyo, addressing locals at Limuru, said that suicide crime has become high in the area.
Over the past three months, about 20 different cases from different parts of the region have been reported.
Nkoyo said most of these crimes are committed by the youth.
He said such cases can reduce if the community, parents can come together and advise young people towards decisions they make.
However the county commissioner also appealed to religious leaders and elders to step up counseling efforts to address the problem which is now a menace in the region.
‘’When it comes to a point that a 78 year old can take away her life, then this is an alarm raising situation that we should address,” he said.
