The youth in Kibera have been urged to apply for numerous employment positions for which they meet minimum requirements in all industries including county government jobs.

This was said during a youth forum organised by the office of the Kibra MP over the weekend to discuss the state of joblessness facing young people.

The organisers Vincent Ayako held the forum at the Constituency Development Fund premises in DC area of Kibera.

The event was attended by different youths from kibera most of them being young entrepreneurs who were eager to market their products and services.

Erick Osore from the Turning Point Trust foundation, who was the guest speaker challenged the youth to apply for several jobs advertised especially county jobs.

"As young people, we are fond of waiting for the government to help us better our lives. We tend to wait on the government to give us employment yet we have skills that can help us earn a living," said Osore.

"Have a sample of what you have done so that when you apply for jobs and be shortlisted for the interview, you can present your work portfolio to the interviewing panel," he added.

He also advised them not be intimidated by the level of experience required in the adverts saying confidence and high self-esteem was more important.
