A Member of Parliament from Nakuru County has called on the residents to elect leaders who are committed towards improving the physical and economic state of the society and not those who engage in petty politics.
Speaking in Kiamunyi on Saturday during a funds drive at Kiamunyi SDA Church for the construction of a new church building, Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama took issue with leaders who were too pre-occupied with personal differences at the expense of development.
“As a leader, as yourself, what have I done for my people as we head into the final year of this term, if you personally feel your score card is below 60 per cent, rethink your development agenda because time is not on your side,” he said.
Arama who has demonstrated his commitment in developing roads, churches and schools over the years thanked governor Kinuthia Mbugua saying he had performed well as far as developing Nakuru was concerned.
He added that the governor had disapproved many of his critics who expected him to perform dismally in his first term in politics.
“His work speaks for itself, he has ensured that devolution is felt even in the most remote areas of Nakuru through different projects being undertaken by his government. Let’s give credit where it’s due,” he added.
Arama further called on the governor to kick out all corrupt officers from his government, saying they risk tainting his image by dragging his name into fishy deals.
Also in attendance were the governor, Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika, Nominated MCA Esther Mengere among other leaders.
