While a section of men are accusing ladies of being over-dependent, ladies in Kibera have come out to strongly defend females in society.

Lillian Murunga said this generation’s men are stingy.

''The problem is that they do not want to accept the fact that they are African men. They blame soap operas for changing our mindsets,'' said Ms. Murunga.

If research was conducted today in the rural areas, you would find many wives who will tell you their husbands work in Nairobi but if you look at the state of their homes, they are still living in grass-thatched houses. Some survive at the mercies of family members or neighbours. It is a big shame to be pointing fingers at ladies yet you cannot take care of your wives back in the rural areas,'' she added.

Vivian Njeri also said these men do not know how to treat a lady. It is upon you as a man to make sure your lady shines she says. Buy good clothes for her, take her to the salon. when you walk around with her, men will be turning their necks to look at her. This simply means they are appreciating your work. They are also trying to tell you that you have a queen by your side. This means you should try and fulfill her desires, not term her as an overdependent person.

If you keep on giving excuses when she asks for money then know you are a stingy type of man that ladies don’t want to date.
