Life has become too difficult for the 'common mwananchi'. The prices of basic goods are getting beyond their reach.

Two months ago, I visited Mutungulu Private hospital in Athi for a check up. When I entered the hospital's reception, I was asked to pay Sh200 as a consultation fee.

I waited for a little while and then I was asked in, after explaining my condition to the doctor, he asked me to pay Sh150 for a laboratory test.

After the test, the laboratory technician told me to go and pay for drugs. I ran out of money and walked out of the Makadara hospital in worse condition and broker than I had been.

These charges are way too much for ordinary Kenyans. The government should come to the rescue of ordinary Kenyans.

Many opt for government hospitals but they end up going to private ones because the government health centres are usually either out of drugs, the laboratory is not working or the long fruitless waiting they have to do.

The rich have no problems, they simply fly to China and get quality health care.
