The parents claim that the past few days have seen an upsurge in alcohol abuse among their children, a situation they said portend doom for their future.

The parents claim that liquor traders especially in the area were to blame for the current predicament and urged the police to crack the whip.

Paul Githu, a parent, on Monday was in agony trying to trace his high school going son who he said disappeared after they had a quarrel after coming home drunk on Christmas day.

"After I confronted him for drinking alcohol he left home and has not returned. I urge the police to kindly arrest traders selling liquor to children," he said.

Naftali Mukhwana, another parent, claimed that his son had taken to drinking at a local pub yet he was underage.

"I am told he is always there. I still wonder why they sell alcohol to such minors," he wondered.

The parents added that their was need for the police to increase their patrols especially in drinking joints to nab both minors and traders found to be selling alcohol to them.
