The County Assembly of Nyamira has blamed the county governor for delaying to release a report on perceived corruption in various departments, months after the county boss appointed a task-force committee to investigate the corruption claims.

The task-force committee that was led by Winston Onsongo is said to have concluded its report in July, four months after it was established.

Speaking on Tuesday at Nyamaiya region during Bunge Mashinani proceedings, Minority Leader Jackson Mogusu blamed the executive for being an impediment to fight against corruption despite unwarranted attacks directed to the assembly by a section of locals.

“Mr Speaker, this house has been under severe attack by some quarters over fight against corruption but it’s now evident that the executive is shielding corrupt elements in the county. It's months since the task-force handed the report on corruption in our department but governor John Nyagarama has remained mum,” he said.

Mogusu’s remarks were supported by Majority Whip Peter Maroro who demanded that the executive should come clean on alleged massive corruption in the county government.

“Getting the report that is funded by tax payers and failing to table it is equivalent to defending corruption. This is the time that the county government takes responsibility,” he added.

Speaker Joash Nyamoko directed Vice Chair of Implementation Committee Naomi Sumari to table the task-force report in a week’s time.
