Motorists plying routes within the Athi River sub county have been cautioned against flouting traffic rules.
The warning was issued by area deputy county commissioner Kodeck Makori, who said several drivers on the roads in the region were violating the rules.
"We cannot condone irresponsible drivers on our roads who fail to abide by simple traffic rules and regulations," said Makori.
Makori who addressed the press at his office in Athi River town Monday said such culprits engaged in unnecessary road accidents due to their carelessness on the road.
He said some of them, especially during December festivities, were tempted to drive while under the influence of alcohol thereby risking lives of their passengers and other road users.
The administrator warned that security agents charged with inspecting and monitoring motorists and their vehicles while on road had not closed for the holidays.
Makori said the government will not sit back and watch as innocent Kenyans perish while other get maimed alongside other serious injuries due to human error that results from driver's carelessness.
He said those found violating traffic rules among other related laws will be arrested and charged in court.
