HIV infections in our current society is contributed more by the married couples than those who are single, says Mutua.
Michael Mutua, the Athi River MCA who spoke to this Hivisasa writer in Athi River town on Monday said that there is need for couple sensitisation and counselling.
"You cannot manage HIV if you are not tested to know your status, it is unfair to both yourself and those you are involved with to live in denial," said Mutua.
"We should view HIV/AIDS just like any other chronic ailment and seek medical consultations and treatment frequently," said Mutua.
Mutua called on the singles to also be careful and avoid indulging in risky behaviours such as unprotected sex so as to keep off HIV alongside other sexually transmitted diseases.
He however cautioned those in relationships or already married against spreading the disease to innocent members of the society.
