Parents from Athi River Sub-County have been cautioned against evading their responsibilities thus compromising the well being of their children.
Addressing journalists at his office in Athi River Town on Tuesday, Athi River Deputy County Commissioner Kodeck Makori said some of the parents in the area leave their parental responsibilities to teachers.
"Some of the parents from Athi River Sub-County take their children to school at the tender age of two years in a bid to evade their parental roles," said Makori.
He said that was unacceptable arguing that children cannot receive proper care from teachers alone with biological parents in isolation.
The deputy commissioner said majority of the teachers are also parents and therefore have their own biological children to take care of.
Makori said child neglect was promoting juvenile delinquency among children in the region, due to inadequate or complete lack of parental guidance and mentorship.
He said security agencies within the region would pursue such parents adding that no child should be admitted in school while under age.
