The Imam and Muslim Preachers Uasin Gishu County chairman Abubakar Bini has hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive to the Education ministry for the formulation of an ethics and integrity awareness syllabus saying it will help in the fight against the vice.
Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Bini said the subject- to be introduced in both private and public schools curriculum- will equip the young children with skills and knowledge on the dangers of corruption and the preventive measures.
“I welcome the directive by President Uhuru to introduce the corruption syllabus in schools since children will have the knowhow of what corruption is and what it can do to a nation,” he said.
The cleric said corruption is a menace that needs to be fought since it has raised the cost of living for Kenyans, and if taught earlier to children, they will grow up knowing its consequences thus shun it.
President Uhuru’s proposed the introduction of the ethics and integrity awareness syllabus during the state of the nation address on Monday.
Bini urged Kenyans to help the President in the fight against corruption by refusing to pay bribes saying the war on graft starts with us.
