Kisii bodaboda operators have called upon the county government to set up a riding school for bodaboda operators.
Raising their concern through their chairperson Mike Oloo who said that the bodaboda operator lack a school where they can train forcing them to gain the knowledge from fellow operators.
“The county government should see to it that we have our own driving school that will ensure the operators are well equipped with road safety rules and regulations," said Oloo.
"This will reduce cases of accidents due to ignorance. A number of operators do not even know the speed limit expected of them which is a major setback in the fight against increased road accidents,” he added.
The operators say this will also ensure that they get their licenses after completing the course.
“I have never heard of a riding school for bodaboda operators. I learnt the skill from my elder brother who owns a motorbike and here I am on the road," said Omondi.
"It will be very wise if the county government takes this move to establish a riding school. The project does not have to be expensive as long as it is engaging and provides the skills for the riders,” added Omondi.
