Bodaboda operators in Mangu have been urged to know the people they carry especially at night.

A bodaboda operator in Mangu on Friday carried a passenger who later attacked the rider and went with his motorbike.

Mangu OCS Geoffrey Murugami noted on Saturday that security of bodaboda operators lies within the operators.

Speaking at Mangu police station, the OCPD said motorbike theft had increased in the area.

Mr Murugami observed that some operators were operating at night carrying customers they do not know.

"The guy who escaped death yesterday is nursing injuries at Mangu ward hospital. He could have been shot if he had resisted surrendering the motorbike," said Murugami.

"Security of motor bike operators is majorly their responsibility. When moving at night, they should make sure they know the clients they are carrying and even further request for escort from fellow operators."

There have been complaints from bodaboda riders in the area that the insecurity had deteriorated.
