Bokeira ward Member of County Assembly in Nyamira North Callen Atuya has called on the residents to be patient with the construction of roads in the area since the process has stopped due to the heavy rains experienced across the country.

According to Callen, the roads that began with digging and were awaiting to have a layer of murram will not continue due to the heavy rains.

“These heavy rains has led us to decided to pause road construction for example the construction that has already began in Nyakaranga Junction to Matongo and the cattle dip site at Enchoro. This is because we don't want to waste murram because I fear that it might be washed away by the rain before anything is completed,” she said.

On another note, the MCA also said that the police should ensure that everyone is secure in the area adding that it is the team work and collaboration between the police and the residents that will ensure security.

Callen further urged the youth to form self-help groups and apply for government funds to start up businesses instead of joining gangs to steal money.
