Youth leaders from Bomachoge Chache constituency have demanded the expulsion of Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for allegedly violating party rules.

Led by Cyrus Bosire Ogega during a press on Sunday in Ogembo town, the youth leaders accused Maangi of betraying the party that ascended him to leadership by collaborating with the Jubilee government for selfish interests.

Ogega, who is the treasurer to the ODM party youth league in the constituency, challenged the Kisii ODM committee to take swift action and suspend Maangi and other errant leaders from the party.

“The delegation that was led by Maangi to Ruto’s (William) home went in the name of bringing development to the people of Kisii and Nyamira counties but instead came back with nothing except sacks of money for themselves,” alleged Ogega.

Samson Nyandwaro, a youth who was among the delegation that went to the Deputy President’s home in Sugoi, Eldoret, condemned the meeting saying it was political.

Nyandwaro has called on the county party leadership to convene a meeting to discuss the conduct of Maangi and other ODM allied members who went to Ruto’s home.

“We thought the meeting was to discuss development matters but nothing of that kind was discussed. We ask our party chairman Christopher Obure to call a meeting and suspend those who are spying for the government,” he said.

Maangi has since scornfully scoffed off the assertions terming them political and unfounded.

In a quick rejoinder, the Kisii deputy governor said the delegation agreed on several issues to be considered by the government in Kisii County.

“We discussed a lot things among them the tarmacking of Mogonga-Kenyenya-Etago road that has stalled for so many years. We also challenged the DP to consider Kisii County in top slots in the government like ministerial positions. Ruto is a partner in the Jubilee administration and therefore there was nothing wrong to tell him our concerns,” said Maangi.
