Several youths from Borabu constituency turned up on Monday for a talent search exercise launched at Menyenya grounds courtesy of area MP Ben Momanyi.
The exercise seeks to identify special talents in sports, art, music and poetry and winners in each category and will get sponsorship to join special schools to advance their talents.
Speaking during the event, Momanyi said the exercise will be carried out annually and beneficiaries will be supported by his leadership until they become full professionals.
“I am so excited that I can already see great talents even in the first day. I am committed as their MP to ensure that the winners in every category as recommended by judges as supported until they become full professionals. It’s a great thing and from now henceforth, it will be done annually,” he said.
Momanyi urged youths to grasp the opportunity and challenged parents to give their children freedom to choose careers that suited them.
“We are living in an open world and it will be in order if our children take a career path independently without interference from parents. Talent pays and we are living testimony to that,” he added.
“We are determined to see our youths get opportunities through their talents. As their leader, I discourage participation in crime,” he added.
Successful candidates from each category will be known on Saturday at the same venue with judges urged to go for the best talent.
