Water boreholes in Kongasis village, Uasin Gishu county have recently been closed following the heavy rains experienced in the area in the past one week.

According to Boaz Kibet, a resident in the area, their water reservoirs can now fetch enough water for their household use. 

"The boreholes also normally gain a lot of water during the rainy season, therefore becoming dangerous if left open. Sealing them completely till the end of the rainy season will minimize household risks which may occur," said Boaz. 

The predicted Elnino had not been experienced much in the area till the beginning of last week when heavy rains were experienced.
