Kitutu Masaba MP has cautioned parents against persistently interfering with management of schools in the constituency.

He has instead urged them to use their representatives to advance their grievances.

Speaking at Kebuko Primary School on Wednesday morning during issuance of Sh500,000 cheque for refurbishment of the school, Timothy Bosire said a number of school heads had reported incidents of rebellion from parents making it difficult for them to concentrate on improving performance in their respective schools.

Bosire said parents should respect school heads respective of where they come from and dismissed those pushing for their ‘own’ to lead particular institutions.

“It’s sad that some parents in a number of institutions now want to control the schools. I want to caution those with such behaviors that you have to respect head teachers who are mandated to lead the institutions. It’s only fair that you channel complaints through your representatives,” he said.

He added “I know not all times we will agree but continued interference of schools with petty issues isn’t taking us anywhere but instead its contributing to poor performances. A number of schools that had wrangles between management and parents performed poorly in 2015 and I don’t want to mention them here. Do me a favor by leaving the schools alone.”

Bosire called for mutual relationships between parents and institution managements to ensure stability and good performance.

“This habit of waging a war on teachers that do not come from your region isn’t good for us all. Respect the teachers and help them to come with good policies but not politics of championing for one of your own to take over,” he said.
