Valentine’s Day that was celebrated on Sunday seemed to have had no noticeable effect in Nyamira town as it was business as usual for the residents.
A spot check by this writer found out that everyone was busy doing their routine work, to ensure there was food on the family table at the end of the day.
Speaking at her salon, Ruth Mogere said she was aware of the day, but it had no impact in her life saying celebrating the day in style or not would make no difference in her day to day hustling.
Ruth however said the number of customers in her salon had increased as several other young and old women prepared for various forms of celebrations counting it a blessing on her side.
“Even if you look in the town the place looks normal and not very many activities have been witnessed like the previous year,” she added.
A vegetable vendor near the Kebirigo market, Agnes Mokaya said she would not mind there being such days since she would be sure of selling more of her commodities to those shopping for the celebrations in their houses or business premises.
Anybody walking along the Nyamira town streets would not be reminded of the Valentine’s Day as there were very isolated cases of people dressed in red outfits as would be expected on such a day.
