A number of businesses have closed down in Keroka following the demolitions that took place yesterday.

A number of businesses in close proximity have closed down for fear of demolitions.

“After what happened yesterday, I am not ready to risk anymore. The team of demolishers has no mercy and I wonder why they had to demolish in such a hurry," said Wamboi.

"They should have, at least, give us time to move our properties,” he added.

Some businesses have been forced to close permanently.

“I am worried about my safety. I prefer closing my shop than facing the destruction," said Moha.

"We call upon the national government to come to our rescue for we are losing our property,” added Moha.

The residents want the county government to stop the demolitions and involve the residents in dialogue to address the issue.

The demolitions are to pave the way for a project that intends to build a major bypass.
