Meat traders in Nyamira town are now calling the county government to construct modern slaughter houses to save them time and keep the hygiene levels high.

In an interview with some meat traders ,the existing slaughter houses pause health risks especially now that its raining.

Their meat, they said, may be infected with diseases that may cause death to the consumers.

According to Cyrus Ombasa, a meat trader in Nyamira, the slaughter house that is near Nyamira town does not meet the health standards despite being the main slaughter house in the town.

He added that they have in the past called the county government to help but all has been in vain and now they are calling for help.

"When I contacted some of the health inspectors in the town they confirmed that the existing slaughter house does not meet health standards and they have already written a letter to the county government and they are waiting for response," he said.
