Kiambu County TNA coordinator Gladys Chania has asked the county government to nurture and promote talent among the youths.

Speaking in Ruiru on Wednesday during the sub county’s cultural day, Chania said that youths have talents that need to be identified and nurtured.

She said that challenges facing the youth especially unemployment and drug abuse can be addressed through talent growth.

“The government and stakeholders should come up with programmes that will identify and nurture talents among the youth,” she said.

Chania observed that many youths in the county have different talents that can be used to promote their lives and change their society.

The TNA coordinator also asked the county government through the youth ministry to organize for mentorship and counseling programmes for youth in the county.

She indicated that it is necessary for the young people to be counselled regularly and equipped with life skills.

Chania said that drug abuse and alcoholism, prostitution and other social evils being practiced by a section of the youths will be addressed if young people are mentored.

She asked parents to take their roles seriously and shape the behaviour of their children.

Elsewhere, Kiambu County Youth Affairs Executive Michael Waikenda has urged youths in the county to take part in the sports tournaments that are taking place in Kiambu.

Waikenda said on Tuesday that his ministry has organised sports activities aimed at bringing together young people across all the sub counties.

He asked youths to participate in the games adding that there will be rewards given to winning teams.
