Residents of Molo sub county have been advised to be their brother’s keepers to brood a safe and more productive society.
Speaking at the Molo grounds during the Jamhuri Day celebrations, sub county commissioner Judith Cheruiyot noted that a peaceful society was requisite for any vibrant economy, saying that anything less than that was disastrous.
She also called on the area leadership to engage the communities in projects that foster peaceful co-existence, saying that politics had been used to cause disharmony in the area especially during electioneering periods.
“If you want to be happy, ensure that your neighbour is happy too because at the end of the day, a happy neighbourhood culminates into a happy society which means people will trust one another and engage in activities that will in the long run foster peace,” she said.
Cheruiyot called on law enforcers to enhance the fight against crime and illicit brews which she said were affecting service delivery especially among the youth.
“Let Molo lead the way in nurturing a sober generation and this will only be achieved if our uniformed officers execute their mandate well, not that they have failed us but we want them to at least pull up their socks,” the commissioner noted.
The residents led by area MP Jacob Macharia, MCAs, Ward administrators and other sub county officials in commemorating the day meant to celebrate when our country became independent 52 years ago.
