The National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (Nacada) chairman John Mututho has called on chiefs and village elders to help fast track the fight against illicit brews in their areas.
Speaking in Naivasha town, the former MP regretted the fact that outlawed drinks were slowly but steadily finding their way into Nakuru County market saying that the most affected people were the youth who are supposed to be productive.
"As we intensify the crackdown everywhere, it's my wish that the local administration helps us to do it in their areas because that was where the brews are being prepared before being transported to town at night," he said.
Mututho reiterated the fact that the authorities were not going to stop the fight anytime soon saying that the effects were being felt by everyone in the society.
"Alcoholism has rendered our youths jobless and totally unproductive because a bigger portion of their day is spent in drinking dens instead of doing other important things," the Nacada boss noted.
He further vowed to ensure that necessary disciplinary measures are taken against chiefs and their assistants who were involved in the trade and some who were protecting the brewers.
