Nakuru County children's coordinator Abdi Sheikh Yusuf has raised the alarm over increased cases of child defilement in the county.
Speaking on Thursday, Yusuf said that last month alone they received about 40 defilement cases with most being reported in the slum areas of the town.
"The month of October especially towards its end saw a significant increase in cases of defilement in the county with majority of them being reported in the informal settlements," he stated.
He mentioned areas such as Kaptembwa, Rhonda, Pondamali, Mwangaza and Bondeni as having the highest incidences of defilement.
The children's boss also warned teachers against engaging in the beastly acts, stating that they were too noble to engage in the vice.
"We are alarmed that teachers who are the children's second parents are steadily being linked to cases of defilement. Let me warn them that the law is not selective. They will face it fully," he charged.
Yusuf advised parents to always monitor their children and to understand their neighbours properly before they could let their children interact with them, adding that most defilement perpetrators were either close relatives or wayward neighbours of the victims.
