While presiding over a sermon at the Dr Arthur Church in Nakuru Flamingo Estate, Pastor James Munene told the congregation that they play a pivotal role as far as the voter registration exercise is concerned.

He added that the exercise should not be left to the political class alone, reiterating that churches should also rise up and spearhead such a noble undertaking.

At the same time, he also called upon parents to sensitise their children on the importance of the exercise so that they can see the sense of registering as voters.

The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) launched the massive voter registration exercise a week ago and has set a target of registering 4 million new voters ahead of 2017 general election.

Among the institutions the commission will be relying on in a bid to hit their set target are churches and the media.
