Women from the Gusii community have been challenged to go for the men dominated elective political seats in the forthcoming general election instead of eyeing the women representative seats solely or waiting to be nominated.
The Nandi county women's representative Zipporah Kering has reminded women from the Gusii community that they have the potential of competing with their male counterparts for various elective political seats.
"I am reminding women that the constitution of Kenya has created other elective political seats which both men and women are eligible to contest. Women should therefore stop overcrowding the seat of women representative," said Kering.
"If you see a political seat where a man is sleeping on the job, just go for it and when he wakes up he will find you in the office," she added.
