The road repair exercise in Rhonda risks being rendered pointless if it is not completed before the onset of long rains, Rhonda residents have said.
The residents said Wednesday the usual floods that often characterise the area during the rainy season would sweep away all the murram and render the whole project an exercise in futility.
"If they fail to revive this project in time and complete it, then the flood water will sweep everything they have applied on the road," asserted Paul Mwaniki.
His sentiments were echoed by Onesmus Bichage who said the contractor who was assigned the job failed to create any drainage system for overflowing rain water.
The Rhonda-Shabab, Rhonda-Barut roads have been earmarked for refurbishment by the county government.
However, the exercise has since been put on hold after a brief stint over unknown reasons, with the area already experiencing light showers.
