Kisii Governor James Ongwae has received a strong backing from a section of Kitutu Chache North residents who asked the area MP to desist from faulting the county governor’s projects in the region.
The residents led by area politician Peter Jogoo on Monday faulted the Jimmy Angwenyi's perceived criticism of Ongwae's leadership asking him to concentrate on managing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) before questioning projects launched by Ongwae.
“Sometimes its worrying that he (Angwenyi) is always talking ill of the governor and yet we have never seen a serious project launched courtesy of CDF. He should come out clearly and show us his development record before criticising the governor, otherwise he should mind his own business,” he said.
They said the MP was being used by the Jubilee government to impede development launched by Ongwae in a bid to neutralise the impact of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) in the region.
“We all understand that Angwenyi is a mouthpiece of Jubilee leadership and his aim is to make Kisii County government which is obviously allied to CORD to under-perform and use it as an excuse in 2017 polls to campaign for Jubilee. We cannot allow that and this is the time he concentrates in his work as an MP,” he added.
However, Angwenyi’s personal assistant Alfred Orina who was in attendance defended the MP saying he had a right to question the development record of the county government.
“Angwenyi is our MP and comes from Kisii County and he is a leader. Therefore, it is not right to restrict him from commenting on matters development,” he said.
