Youths with a habit of consulting from senior members of the society have proved resourceful as compared to their peers who do things on their own, a local leader has said.

This, according to Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, is necessary when it came to acquiring elderly advice from people with life experiences that have defied all odds to make it in life.

Speaking in Engoshura on Monday during a funeral mass for retired teacher Kenneth Ndung’u Wang’ombe under whose guidance prominent politicians and businessmen in the county have made it in life, the Bahati legislature called on young people to prioritise getting advice from the right persons to avoid the mess being witnessed in the society today.

"Personally, I am what you see today because of being guided by the right persons. What they gave me is an asset that I use to inspire and guide others who come to me for advice,” Ngunjiri noted.

He accused the present elderly in society of being too pre-occupied, leaving youths to turn to each other and the internet only to start blaming them when the damage was already done.

Ngunjiri is a strong supporter of youth and women empowerment which he believes is the stepping stone towards an independent, respectful and more organised society in future.

The late mwalimu Kenneth Wang’ombe taught the Bahati MP in the late 60’s at Michinda Primary School.
