Contractors seeking tenders in Kisii County have been warned against engaging in bribery to secure tenders.
Speaking on Thursday in Kisii town during the launch of the Anti-Corruption week, deputy governor Joash Maangi warned interested contractors against flouting procurement rules.
"We have had issues of bribery while seeking for a tender. I warn any contractor to disengage in bribery because its against the law," said Maangi.
The deputy county boss noted that corruption was rampant in tendering process and said anybody found engaging in corruption will be blacklisted and charged.
Kisii County deputy commissioner, Philip Soi, urged residents to change their attitude that they must bribe in order to get favours.
"We like mlango wa nyuma. This is ruining our society because residents know the only way of being favored is through corruption. I warn residents against recurring the attitude."
