Governor John Nyagarama has said the fight against corruption can be won if all Kenyans united against the graft.
Speaking on Saturday during the Jamuhuri Day celebrations at Nyamaiya grounds, Nyagarama said his regime was committed to fighting the vice and invited residents to join the war.
He warned public servants against engaging in corruption and said he will act expeditiously and send corrupt officials packing.
“Corruption is a national disaster and we have to join hands and win as a team. This is a monster that we should not spare and we have to deal with it and win as a team. I will also not spare corrupt officials in my government because I want to lead a corrupt free regime,” he said.
He said every member of the public had a role to play in the fight against corruption instead to solely blaming the county leadership.
“As members of the public, you also have a role to play. We want to see you sharing information with relevant authorities so that we fight against graft."
Mr Nyagarama defended a task force put in place to investigate corruption incidents in county government departments.
