Uasin Gishu County government is determined to remove all street children in Eldoret town.
Speaking in his office on Thursday, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said he is aware that the number of street children in Eldoret town has increased despite sending them to their respective counties.
He said street children were a threat to security in the county.
"It's sad that our streets are now full of street children who are a threat to security. We had taken them back to their 'respective homes' but unfortunately they have come back," he said.
He said the county has embarked on a crackdown that will ensure all street children are arrested and taken back to their parents since most of them know their homes and parents.
"Those who don't know where they come from will be taken to rehabilitation centers which will fully be catered for by the county government," he said.
He also warned parents who neglect their children, forcing them to end up in the streets.
He said such parents will be arrested and charged with child neglect.
