Kisii Governor James Ongwae has said the county government is committed to delivering efficient services to all residents to accelerate development and uplift their living standards.
The governor, who was speaking during his tour to various projects initiated by his government, on Tuesday said public resources were being put into proper use not only to enhance service delivery but also ease problems of water scarcity, lack of access to health services and transport among others.
He called for unity among local leaders saying this would enable them serve the people more effectively and above all ensure that they have a table county.
He said his administration had initiated an enterprise fund for youth and women and appealed to the youth to make use of the kitty instead of looking for white color jobs.
“We want to empower women and youth so that they can be self-reliant,” he said, adding, “This is the only way we can effectively tackle poverty and lack of employment.”
The governor underlined the importance of peace which he said was the catalyst for development and urged communities to always co-exist harmoniously and share grazing resources amicably among themselves.
He added that his government would continue scouting for better markets for their products to make farming economically viable.
He called upon government workers to ensure that they were not only available but also accessible at their places of work to serve the people better.
