Machakos County assembly on Wednesday launched a television and radio signal that will enable public following of assembly proceedings.
The Machakos County assembly speaker Bernard Mung'ata has revealed that the signal will enable direct following of debates being discussed first hand.
In a report to the assembly, Mung'ata stated the signal was currently at the Speaker's office and the secretary's and soon would be accessible to the visitors room and then up to the Machakos bus station.
"The assembly proceedings will not only be viewed from the clerks at speakers office but also from the visitors bay and near future from the bus park. The broadcasting will also allow following of debates and committee meetings and assemble with them," he added.
He further stated the main aim of the broadcast is to enable the transparency to the public and understand how the Assembly operates.
"One of the core aims of streaming the proceedings is to enhance public understanding, and confidence in democratic government and familiarise with parliamentary proceedings," said Mung'ata.
The speaker further stated the move would give the residents true information unlike exagerated false information by media some media stations.
