Kiambu County government has announced plans to construct 250 Kilometers roads across the county before the end of the year.

Speaking to journalists in Thika Town after inspecting ongoing works at the Kangoki Landfill on Wednesday, Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo said that several roads that had never been tarmacked since independence will be renovated.

The governor added that adequate funds under the County Equity programme have been set aside for the constructions.

“As the county government our major goal is to ensure that there is good infrastructure that will open up the county for development,” said Kabogo.

The governor intimated that infrastructure development is the key to economic development of Kiambu.

He said that already major infrastructure projects are being initiated in the county.

Kabogo added that the national government will also oversee repair and renovation of 20,000 kilometers of the roads in the county before the end of the year.

The Kiambu governor urged leaders in the county to work closely with his government and support development projects instead of opposing them.

Kabogo said that some leaders were openly opposing development projects meant to improve the lives of the people.
