Kiambu County government will support the security team in Thika and its environs curb insecurity during the festive season.
This will be done by facilitating their patrols, Kiambu County Secretary Fredrick Kitema said.
He added that the county government will purchase enough fuel for the police vehicles as well as offer them two additional land rovers during the period to be used by the community policing officials.
Mr Kitema said they are on the front line in ensuring that Thika business community and the residents are secure after the sad incident that happened last weekend where the Madaraka market was burnt down by unknown assailants.
According to Mr Kitema, the move will ease access to the police services by the residents who will be required to inform them of anything suspicious at anytime of the day or night.
The move was lauded by Thika District Business Association Secretary Sam Chege who said they are impressed by the efforts to ensure the businesses which are mostly profitable at this festive period are secure and that the traders will not be attacked at night.
He sai the move to light Thika is a positive one as there will be enough security for the traders.
Thika DCC has called on the members of public to accept the wish by the police that they could be informing them on anything that could result to insecurity in their respective areas.
They were speaking during a security consultative meeting in Thika town on Thursday.
