The county CeC for Communication, Information and Technology Michael Onyango has said the county plans to improve internet connectivity across the county.

He was addressing Communication and Journalism students in Maseno University during a motivational talk.

He said that the Communication Ministry was going to set up Wi-Fi hotspots in each sub-county headquarters in the county.

He said the internet if well used is a very instrumental tool that can bring remarkable transformation in the society.

He said that the internet had portals that provide jobs that can be used to eradicate poverty.

Mr Onyango continued to mention that in partnership with local internet provider companies, he is going to ensure that proper infrastructure is laid so that all regions in the county have access to faster internet speeds.

He also said that the county government has plans under way with Luke University to provide computer training to young youths.

The training, according to the county minister is aimed at presenting golden opportunities to the young people especially those who did not make it to college or other institutions of higher learning.

The minister urged the training Journalists to be people of high integrity who will shun corruption once they are out in the field practicing.

He told them to develop sheer interest and passion for their work. He however told them that their field of specialization was highly competitive and also full of challenges.

“Problems are inevitable, but you should see every problem as an opportunity in disguise,” said Mr Onyango.
