The Kisii County government is set to roll out an automated, paperless system aimed at improving revenue collection.
Kisii governor James Ongwae on Wednesday while closing a two day workshop in a Kisii hotel on revenue collection and management systems for the county government, reaffirmed his quest to seal all loopholes in revenue collection.
Ongwae said that his government seeks to raise Sh1 billion annually to supplement treasury allocation to the county to spur its economic growth.
The improvement of revenue collection will see the county deliver its essential services to the people in improvement of health, water, roads and infrastructure.
The governor has set up a task force headed by Finance CeC Dr Kodeck Omwancha to identify revenue sources to improve collection.
Deputy governor Joash Maangi said the system had come a time when revenue collection in the county had dimmed.
“Automation therefore is a step in the right direction,” added Maangi.
Ongwae said revenue officers will be trained in Information Communications and Technology to understand how the new system works.
