Nyanza Regional Coordinator Francis Mutie has announced that the government will continue cracking down on illicit brew dealers.
Mr Mutie called on government officials to ensure drugs and other illicit substances are wiped out in the region.
He said the government has given out motorbikes to the administrators at the grassroots to fight the menace and other criminal activities.
“Our chiefs and their assistants will have no excuse to fight illicit brews in their areas. They have motorbikes that allow them to travel to every part of their jurisdiction and wipe out these brews and drugs,” he said.
Mutie warned the administrators that they will be liable to any illegal brew that will be found within their areas.
“Some chiefs were sacked during the raid on illicit brews and it will continue, it is now upon these officers to get down to the job,” he said.
Speaking in Kisumu when he flagged off a road show truck on the dangers of drug abuse, Mutie said the government will not relent in the fight against drugs.
He noted that some police officers also indulged in drug abuse during their working hours and warned that the law will catch up with them.
“Police officers have been seen committing suicide by shooting themselves or hanging. It may be because of drug abuse and I want NACADA to help in educating our officers,” he said.
