Nakuru town residents have now called for a crackdown on dingy butcheries saying they could well be selling donkey meat.
Speaking Monday shortly after police busted a donkey meat syndicate in Naivasha, the residents said they suspect that some butcheries are stocking the dreaded meat.
"I wouldn't be suprised if some of our butcheries are found to be stocking donkey meat because they are run in very funny environments," said Dan Mbaka.
His sentiments were echoed by Ruth Maina who said a week ago, she bought what looked like donkey meat but could not marshal the courage to just confront the butcher.
All they are now seeking is for the county Ministry of Health to carry out a thorough crackdown on errant butcheries and arrest those selling suspicious meat.
