The cabinet secretary for Water and Irrigation Mr. Eugene Wamalwa has urged graduates from the Mount Kenya University to consider self employment rather than getting too concerned about white collar jobs.

Speaking on Friday during the institution’s 9th graduation ceremony at the Pavilion Grounds in Thika, the CS said that MKU has been providing quality education all through and so the graduates are competent enough to start viable businesses.

“I am aware that this institution is at the frontline in offering quality education which is a right to every Kenyan citizen. I have a strong belief in the gigantic things our graduates can do,” Wamalwa said.

The CS said MKU has a lot of alumni who have ventured into entrepreneurship and have been providing opportunities to the community which he said has led to development.

“We are concerned about how resourceful our graduates will be to the society which is why i am urging our fresh graduates to create jobs for themselves and others. Don’t rely on employment so much and instead make grounds for the future generations by creating better opportunities,” he added.

Wamalwa urged all education stakeholders to continue supporting high institutions of learning to ensure transformation in the society.
