Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o has criticized current de-whipping of Cord coalition legislators perceived to go against their political parties’ grain terming it undemocratic.
The Senator advised the coalition to invoke internal dispute resolution mechanisms to avert a looming fall out in its affiliate parties a head of 2017 general elections.
Speaking after donating books to Borabu sub county schools at Menyenya SDA high school on Friday, Mong’are warned that the coalition risked jeopardizing its already low numerical strength in parliament.
He challenged the coalition which had since punished disgruntled MPs by ejecting them from parliamentary committees to reign in on alleged corrupt governors in its strongholds.
On bashing of teachers in the region for engaging in time wasting activities including holding funerals in school compounds at the expense of learning, Mong’are claimed there was no proof on the accusation.
The senator called for provision of the required facilities in schools and motivation on teachers before they were blamed on non performance.
Giving a three months public notice to Nyamira county government employees residing outside the area to re-locate, Mong’are described the habit as a waste of working hours and fuel.
According to him, the continued stay of the employees in neighboring counties in the pretext of lack of accommodation was tantamount to undermining devolution.
During the occasion, primary schools received 50 while their secondary counterparts got 45 text books each respectively.
The exercise was part of the senator’s programme to improve academic standards in the region through provision of text books and computers.
